Due to rapidly rising copper prices we have grudgingly increased prices on select cable types this month. The prices on feeder cable and multi-cable assemblies have increased between 2.5 and 6%, depending on copper content. Raw cable has increased as well, catching up after no changes for many months. On a positive note, you'll see some formatting changes in September's price list. We've increased the number of standard lengths for most of our cable assemblies. This means having more prices right at your fingertips and less time asking for quotes. We hope you find the new format to be a useful tool.
Also, we've decided to offer our dealers a recession-busting special on cable fees. From now until the end of the year we will be waiving the Cable Cut and Handling Charge, normally a $10.00 fee.

Based on customer input, Lex is now including the nuts and Belleville washers needed in order to connect to the threaded stud input connection on our Power Gate Cam-type input panels. (Click here for the Power Input Panel Data Sheet) We are unable to provide the appropriate ring terminal because the panels accept numerous wire sizes and it would be cost prohibitive to provide the full range. Nevertheless, this change will eliminate two sets of components that the user previously had to provide on his own. The wiring instructions and user manual have been changed accordingly. There is no change to the price of the units.
The Lex Cam-type input panel is one of the more popular product introductions that Lex has made in the last few years. It is installed on the outside of a building in conjunction with a transfer switch in order to eliminate the need for hard wiring when emergency generator power is needed. The units are UL, cUL (approved for use in US and Canada) NEMA 3R Rainproof.
Both Lex's east and west coast facility will be closed on Monday, September 7th, in observance of Labor Day.
Additionally, we will be taking inventory at our Lex East facility on Friday, October 9th and Saturday, October 10th. Lex will be fully open and taking orders on these dates, but we will not be shipping from our East facility. Items that need to ship will do so from our Lex West facility.

Last month we asked the question: "There is one word that it is considered to be extremely bad luck to utter in a theatre. What is that word and what is the remedial action required to nullify the jinx, if the word is uttered?"
The answer, provided by theatre reviewer Lynn Slotkin is :
"1) Macbeth. If the name of the play is said or quoted in a dressing room, the offender has to go out of the room, turn around three times, spit over his/her shoulder, swear and wait to be re-admitted.
2) Or the offender can quote from The Merchant of Venice, Act III, Scene IV line 40. Lorenzo to Jessica "Fair thoughts and happy hours attend on you."
We had lots of winners this month, among them Lee Shealy from Ready or Not Inc. who suggested that "Cats" should replace Macbeth" in the near future as the curse word of choice."
This month's question is: "Why is it that larger wire sizes (like #2, #4, and #6) are tagged with lower numbers while smaller wire sizes (like #18, #16, #14) have higher numbers?"
